General flow of HIV testing

HIV tests include screening tests and confirmatory tests.

HIV testing is initially performed with "screening test“. If the initial test result is negative, it means HIV screening-test negative.

Even if the test result is positive, there is a possibility that you are not infected (which is called a false-positive), so you need to take the confirmatory test to make sure the result.

If the confirmatory test is positive, it means that HIV infection.
